Getting started
Who are your solutions designed for?
Water Ledger Global works with utilities, public agencies, water users, market operators, investors and communities. It is most relevant when several parties need shared facts about water, environmental credits or project outcomes. The starting point is the decision you need to improve and the people who need to work together.
Find your solutionWhere should we start with the different solutions?
Start with your water challenge: SWaN for environmental credits, WIISE for infrastructure investment, Passports & Points for demand-management programs, or Treasury for water accounting. You can explore each solution independently and discuss which fits your organisation.
See questions by solutionCan your solutions support our region?
The fit depends on your water system, local rules and the organisations involved. SWaN operates a public environmental credit marketplace with Virginia DEQ; other implementations are scoped around the relevant system or program. Our regional work provides examples of experience to inform that discussion.

Do we need blockchain?
You don’t need to run or understand blockchain to use Water Ledger. Today we anchor records on Hedera, a public distributed ledger, with supporting data held off-chain, because it makes shared facts verifiable and resistant to unilateral change, including by us. Hedera is our chain of choice; the facts, rules and governance remain yours to define, and we’ll use whichever technology best serves that need.
Can we work with our existing systems?
Yes, existing systems are the starting point for scoping an integration. Together we identify the records to connect, source systems, data ownership and reporting needs. The interfaces and implementation work depend on your systems and chosen solution.
Who can see our data?
Access is defined for each implementation. Public information and permissioned working views serve different purposes: some records can be published, while operational information is shared according to agreed roles and permissions. We establish what is public, shared or restricted when scoping your project.
Where can we check the source of water and market data?
Use the source, reporting period and freshness information shown alongside each data view. Illustrative workflows explain a process, while views labelled as examples demonstrate the interface. Published records and case studies relate to the specific system, period or implementation shown.

What should we prepare for a first conversation?
Bring your organisation and location, the water challenge you want to address, and the people who need to use the solution. An outline of available data and your intended timeline helps us scope a useful discussion. You do not need a complete technical specification to get in touch.
Discuss your projectHow is pricing determined?
Project pricing depends on the solution and implementation scope, including the systems, data and access requirements involved. Contact us to discuss your project. SWaN has its own published platform subscription and transaction information.
Discuss scope and pricingWho should join the initial discussion?
Include the person responsible for the water challenge and someone familiar with the relevant data or operations. Depending on the project, regulators, market operators, delivery partners or funders may also need to help define the requirements.
Can we partner with Water Ledger Global?
Yes. We welcome discussions with organisations bringing water-sector knowledge, technology, implementation expertise or project capital. Tell us what you do, where you work and the water challenge you would like to address together.
